THE PINK PALACE

Updated: 4 days ago

The Beverly Hills Hotel is enchanting. Stunningly sophisticated yet with a relaxed resort feel it envelops you in carefully renovated luxury while simultaneously transporting you to a bygone era when Hollywood elite such as Marilyn Monroe sat high on her regular stool in the unassuming diner downstairs. The Pink Palace as it is affectionately known is over 100 years old and stars still shine brightly here. Perched up at the bar in the famous Polo Lounge (piano tinkling in the background) I enjoyed spontaneous drinks with an Emmy award winning stranger.

Soaking up the lavish poolside surrounds I received an invitation to a party with famous musicians and during sunsets, I brushed shoulders with the wildly rich while weaving my way through tropical gardens along pathways to what most would consider to be unattainable suites. Staff had encouraged me to revel in this early evening enchantment even if I hadn't afforded a stay.

There is nothing standard about the more attainable guest rooms. The whimsical green palm fronds that adorn the paper on the walls leading you the them bring the outside sensation in. Each one is fit for a king, or princess in my case, the stay here certainly making me feel like one - an experience I will not forget.

As you come and go from the hotel you'll find the valets delightful and when prompted they tell tales of the famous, fantastic and absurdly affluent, of the cars they've been asked to drive - which one car enthusiast expressed had been the highlight of his work life here - and the fabulous regulars who not only knew them by name, but with whom they have become firm friends.

The awesome always changing automobiles lining the lot out the front are certainly head turners and the hotel entryway so striking and recognisable it doubles as a never ending red carpet requiring those helpful valets to pose as photographers for those who want to capture their stay in more than just their hearts.

The palatial pool environment has you believing your life is always this glamorous and for the moments you spend milling around this sparkling aqautic perfection sipping champagne, cocktails or dining in the outdoor restaurant you are convinced it is.

My stay at the Pink Palace was by far the most beautiful and unforgettable I've had in a five star establishment, it seeps into your pores and during your time as their guest you become part of the very spirit of Hollywood. Extremely pricey and worth every penny I'll be saving mine to relive this wondrous dream time and again. Until then The Beverley Hills Hotel will remain under my skin and on closing my eyes, ghosts of Golden Age Icons will appear to beckon my back.
